Rocket is a popular cafe for coffee and food lovers. They currently have 4 cafe’s around Bangkok and always seem to pull in a good crowd – so they’re doing something right!
Today I popped into Rocked S49 (the S49 standing for Sukhumvit Soi 49) for a coffee and to catch up on some emails. It was definitely the right stop! The coffee was perfect (was a nice strong shot) and the ambience, space and Wifi was optimal for me to setup and sort through emails.
The price is OK according to the menu with a latte at ฿95 however they charge the service tax which a lot of others don’t, so the total cost of a latte is about ฿110.
The food looked amazing, I didn’t try anything on the menu this time but the prices for food a quite reasonable and looks amazing. One dish I saw come out was the “Sour cream scrambled eggs on toasted country rye
with spring onion” for ฿165 – looked amazing!
The s49 branch can be a bit hard to find as it sits in towards the back of a little arcade of shops with “The Coffee Club” taking up center stage with it’s huge big signage all over the place and another little cafe called “D’ARK” which sits towards the front (I’ll be checking this place out too soon).
The location can seem a little out of the way and hidden and might not be the best spot to walk to in the Bangkok humidity as it’s about a 1 km walk from Thonglor BTS. One advantage is it sits right opposite a Villa Market (a supermarket that sells a lot of international/western food) so you can pop in and stock up on your comfort food before or after.
You can check out their website here which has location details and a menu for each of their branches.
What to Expect
Perfect spot for a Sunday morning when you want to chill out and take your time. Good place to sit for an hour or two and get some work done. Not so good for an on the run coffee.
