What amazing food at EXCEPTIONAL prices! Escape – one of Hua Hin resorts, sits at the top end of Hua Hin (just opposite the BluPort Shopping Mall) and offers it’s guests and the public with a indoor/outdoor restaurant – The Red Coral Restaurant.

The restaurants is located not to far from the entrance/reception – almost right night door actually, the downside to this is that you don’t have the sea/ocean view. The upside to this however is that you don’t have to walk a few hundred meters to the beach front to reach the restaurant (like a lot of other resorts) – as soon as you arrive at this resort you’re pretty much right in front of the restaurant.
Another upside to this place (which I noticed as soon as opening the menu) are the prices are some of the best I’ve seen for a resort in Hua Hin. Amazing Thai and Western food priced between 150 – 200 baht and tea/coffee at 80 baht.
The restaurant is situated alongside the main swimming pool and large fish pond. With palm and other tropical trees and plants located around the outdoor area, you really do feel like you’re in paradise! Each of the tables has a large umbrella to protect you from the sun, and the staff are always on the ball – moving the umbrella should you stay long enough for the sun to move and you lose your shade.
The outdoor area contains 3 large table each capable of seating around 6 people. There are also two bed/couch type seating areas for the romantic touch (suitable for a couple of people to have a light snack and drink).
The indoor area contains about 8 tables and is airconditioned for additional comfort if it’s a really hot/humid day.
I didn’t have to think twice when opening the menu, the first thing that jumped out at me was the Pomelo salad – at 180 baht. I was with a friend at the time and she say “what?” when seeing my face drop after seeing the Pomelo Salad – I said “you gotta try this dish – it’s amazing and not always easy to find”. So that was it – decision made – 2 Pomelo salads!
The good thing about lunching with others is you can normally taste a few different items on the menu – so I should have actually ordered something else, but I love this dish so much I needed the whole thing!
Service was great – meals arrived within 10 minutes after ordering. The portions were quite generous for the price, in fact probably the largest Pomelo salad I’ve had here in Hua Hin and at the cheapest price too. It was also presented really nicely and prepared with the Pomelo nicely broken into small pieces (I’ve had a few variations of this dish and sometimes the Pomelo is prepared in rather large chunks – I much prefer the finer/smaller pieces as it mixes in more with the sauce and the flavour really gets right through).
Wow Wow Wow! That’s all I can say – Price, Location, Quality – it’s got it all. OK – it doesn’t have an ocean view but the other features such as pool, pond and garden still give it the tropical beach paradise vibe begging you to just sit, dine and relax!

What will you remember?

The fresh seafood this place dishes out which reminds me why  love this place!

Will you go back?

What can I say – I’m regular already!

What’s the price like?

For the quality of food, the portions and freshness – amazing value! generally I pay around 160 Baht for a meal but I also like customise mine a little (sometime asking for more shrimp or extra “this and that”). Most of the Thai meals are around the 150 Baht mark, Breakfasts between 150-185 baht and sandwiches between 110-140 baht.
