The sign out the front (“3rd”) and the design of the place had all the aspects of a cool new coffee shop/cafe opening here in Udon Thani.
I saw the “opening soon” banners on the front window daily for a good few weeks as I went for walks/runs/rides around Nong Prajak park…as that’s where this cute little join sits…right alongside the park.
A recent run around the park I noticed the “opening soon” banners were gone and there was a good crowd sitting inside and around the outside of this new joint…so I was kinda keen to make a stop here and see what it was all about.
To start with, the name of the place is actually “Normal 3rd Coffee”, not “3rd” (as sign writing previously suggested), but if you’re driving the past the place, you want to look out for the “3rd” sign, and not “Normal 3rd Coffee”…cause otherwise you won’t see it!
It’s a coffee/drink stop this one, not so much a cafe to fill the belly if you’re look for something to eat. But if it’s coffee you’re after, and strolling, riding or running around Nong Prajak, then this is the place to stop.
The coffee menu offers all the populars, including a vanilla and caramel latte. I took a photo of the main menu of drinks which you can check out below.
The coffee quality is up there with the best and easily makes the top 10 (maybe even top 5) I’ve tried in Udon Thani. They roast their own coffee and it has a good strength to it. The mug/cup they give you is the perfect size to have the right balance of coffee and milk…so it’s not too milky, or not too strong.
The place isn’t huge, so there’s not a lot of seating options. The inside probably seats around 15 people and is pretty cozy. The outside has a good 5 or so tables that go around the whole cafe and probably seat in total around 15 again.
If you like quality coffee, and only wanting a quick 15-20 min stop…it’s the perfect option.
