Back Again, and happy to be. I knew this was a rockin coffee stop, but I’d never had one of these guys toasties here, so figured I’d write another short post about my latest visit here – which includes the toasty test!

I’ve been to this place at least 10 times for my morning coffee, but not until recently had stopped here for one of the food menu options. Todays post is all about their toasties, but they have some good sweets on offer as well.

Living in the country  (well…kinda) it takes me around 45-60 minutes to get to either Udon Thani or Khon Kaen, so the early morning coffee is generally done using “Eggs on Toast” own home coffee equipment. My visits to the cafe’s around town now happen a little later in the day, and when my hunger is kicking in.

Today was a Khon Kaen day and I was REALLY feeling like a toasty (I’d just had one from Kim’s Cafe the other day – perhaps that’s what amped the craving). I remembered these guys and their toasties menu and was hoping they still had the selection I saw a few months back.

They had the toasty selection I was familar with, and more! They’d built on their selection of toasties available a few months back to a “create your own toasty” menu. They still have their original menu of toasties for the indecisive people, but if you know how you like your toastie….just ask for it…select your ingredients, and the chef gets working in the kitchen for you!

My toastie today was pretty standard, mainly because they’d ran out of Avacodo. I’m an indecisive person and like to choose something straight from the menu, and so asked for their chicken and avacodo sandwich…but nope! Had to organise my own toasty from their “create your own” menu. So I opted for the the Chicken Breast, Tomato and Lettuce Toasty.

The presentation is awesome…Thick toast (not 7/11 bread – good whole wheat toast), but pressed enough and toasted so it’s got that brown crisp flatness on top, but not too squished so it looks like a McDonals cheeseburger. The ingerdients inside are so BRIGHT, and fresh lookin, not flat and burnt like they’ve been toasted with the bread. And then there’s this secret sauce that adds the flavour to the whole sandwich. But if you’re one of those that wants the standard Mayo and Ketchup – they got that on the table for you too – just pour it in your sandwich.

The taste was delicious – and yeah I’m sure a lot had to do with the sauce, cause you put chicken, tomato and lettuce on their own, it’s a pretty average sanga right? But my toasty needed no introduction at all the avilable additional sauces, it was perfect as is!

I ordered another toasty. I had to 🙂 So without the avo, I ordered Chiken, Lettuce, annnndd EGG! You know my whole time in Thailand I haven’t ordered a sandwich with Egg sincce yesterday at Kim’s Cafe.

My problem now is, moving onto other place to try their food when I already know these guys have everything I want in a morning cafe!

What were the main things you liked about the place?

  • I’ve always loved the coffee here – it’s one of the best in Khon Kaen in my opinion
  • The layout and design of the place. A lot of space including a second floor and an outdoor garden with a pond (and enormous fish)
  • The TOASTIES!!!! on this visit anyway

What are the prices like?

Pretty good, coffee’s are around 55 baht, Toasties 69 baht…makes you feel like they got the check wrong when you’re leaving.
